Once your domain is connected and cPanel access is working, you’re ready to upload your website. You can do this directly through the cPanel File Manager or by using an external FTP client.
Option 1: Uploading via File Manager
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Under the Files section, click File Manager.
- Open the public_html directory. This is the main folder for your website.
- Click the Upload button at the top of the page.
- Select your files (for example,
index.htmlor your website folder) and wait for the upload to complete.
Tip: The file named index.html or index.php is the default homepage your visitors will see when accessing your domain.
Option 2: Uploading via FTP
For larger sites, using an FTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable.
- Open your FTP client and create a new connection.
- Use your domain as the Host (for example,
ftp.yourdomain.com). - Enter your cPanel username and password.
- Connect and navigate to the public_html folder.
- Drag and drop your website files into this directory.
Verify Your Upload
After uploading, visit your domain in a web browser (for example, https://yourdomain.com) to confirm your site is loading correctly.
Troubleshooting
- If you see a default “cPanel” or “Index of” page, it means no
index.htmlorindex.phpfile exists yet. - Make sure files are uploaded into public_html, not outside it.
- Clear your browser cache or wait a few minutes for changes to update.
